Yay! After the billionth time killing this NM, I finally see it drop the old ragged gloves once more after seeing it drop when we did it wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the days of early salvage when we didn’t realize SSR was a diseased harlot.
Back in the day of my NA time group, it dropped and I passed it to Preet and said “I’ll just get the next one! All yours”. HA! I never saw it in my whole time in that group, even after it broke I didn’t see it drop in my own group till tonight.
With full Skadi armor set, I am thinking of setups. Now the thing is, I can’t think of any reason I’d want to wear the whole set at any time! The set bonus is “Increases rate of critical hits” - by a measly 5% that is. I can get more total DEX/STR from other gear, more haste from mix/match, more acc mix/match, etc. The only thing it’d be technically good for would be the weaponskill Evisceration, but even then -
a) I don’t use Evisceration much as it’s in the same category of dark as Mercy Stroke thus me not needing it for SC
b) If I was going to evisceration, I can achieve a higher STR/DEX bonus from hecatomb.
I guess I’ll wait till I test it out on the feild rather than just theoretical wishy wash, but just at a glance I don’t see it good for much (on THF) outside an unstacked Evisc.
Now the individual piece, the hands, are welcome by me! They are now my strongest trick attack item for mercy stroke. Not only that, but they’re amazing RNG gloves and would also be welcome for Sidewinder (and when I obtain it, ) Conorach.
Hoorah skadi! 2 full sets finally complete after doing Salvage from the day it came out. I’m glad I hung around ! And I am not going anywhere I like to help my friends, so I’ll be doing it till we get everyone’s drops.

Another little update on how my relic is going.
Haven’t had any second thoughts about the relic type just yet, although a bunch of my friends are telling me “omg do apoc it’ll be better!!!”. I’m not interested in the whole DRK job whatsoever, I love it, I love when people can bring it to zerg with their zerg setups, but I’ll pass ;p
When choosing the gun to upgrade, I chose it because I have quite a few pieces that I can use on both THF and RNG, any sort of multi tasking equip is welcome for me.
Coin count :
- Byne - 2837 (of 7,500 or 10,500)
- Bronze - 597 (of 6,300)
- Shell - 581 (of 1,500)
Huzzah! Decent progress. Not counting the last 30x refund, I need 152 hundred pieces, or 15,200 to upgrade. I currently have a total of 4015 which brings me up to roughly 26%.
I also recently sold my herald gaiters to help sponsor for about 15m, I’m going to only use 12-3mil on outright byne purchases (at 5k each!) and keep doing the sponsor/discount in LS coin thing, which leaves a fairly large money buffer on my character.
Kind of helps that my LS is doing CoP dynamis the last few runs so I’m not having to buy many coins at the end of the runs kekeke. I’ll keep using this time to store gil before our next round of cities.
 My beautiful coinage!

 Damaage
1300+ ! It only did 1300 once, but many other times I was doing 1100+ , tested SB for the lulz and got a 750 (in my mercy setup, don’t usually bring dex gear around with me).
Chaos/Samurai roll (only SAM in the pt for roll enhancement) Madrigal/Carol

I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently, and I really would like another relic. I’ve always been attracted to the thought of me having an annihlator , looks like a fun weapon, and I like gun more than bow in this game so I’m definitely heading towards getting it.
The more I’ve heard about it, the more I want it badly :p things like the amount of dmg you can do in triple procs / barrages and such, fap fap fap. Would go well on things where my mandau doesn’t contribute in an amazingly good way (for example salvage bosses).
The funds will be the only real roadblock in getting it obviously, and I’ve got quite a wad saved up for it so far. I’ve been sitting on a small portion of cash, and hopefully I can do the relic in approx a year or so. If not, I’m in no super rush anyway, but I’d like to get the 10k byne out of my hair within the year.
Also looking at a bunch of things I could sell and convert to gil, the only thing I’m really wondering about is the manteel on the taru. That would give me 4m to fund, but I lose a lot of stuff :p However it is a mule after all, so maybe I’ll just downgrade him into errant.
Other stuff I plan on selling - Terra/Apollo staves, Blau, HQ sniper, Mahatma Slops, basically things that I no longer have use for due to me obtaining better, (blau/slops) or things that offer an upgrade so small or I use so rarely that I won’t notice (staves/sniper +1).
Just by selling things off alone, I have the funds to get started, and then via my other money making activities, I predict to make enough money each week to at least buy a blob of currency . Little things here and there that I’ve taken for granted, like farming flayer crap, selling drops from the mobs in nyzul (like almonds/bone chips etc etc) will all add up in the long run!
I’ve always been the type of person who has no motivation to do anything , but when I’m motivated, I’m in it till the end.
So far I have liquidated some things to get me started, this is going to be long and slow unless I get lucky on a Kraken BC, but now I am up to 8x 100byne, 1x M.silver! Whee. Starting all over again is sure “fun” :p The fact that I don’t have a fully sponsored dynamis anymore is going to be a strain, I won’t be gaining coins as fast, but oh well, no worries.

Finally! Epic story behind this too, I messed up and Rr’d in the BC to finish one off, but we got pwnt, blahblahblah I’m dead with no RR, as is Chapstick, rainesong the only one out of the BC and alive, but is /rdm also tisi / toir are on the other side waiting for us to come back and do the first BC for them so they can’t raise me without going all the way around the BC area, well they can’t since it’s a 1 way drop off, and I had to spend the next 5 mins waiting for it to drop, and I wasn’t sure if I even had inventory room for it ><
Thankfully I did (66/70) but those were a nervous few minutes!
So happy to have it. Did a few quick tests with it, Crits definitely affect both hands and all crit based JAs. SA Bees in the Canyon with Mandau/X’s - about 650. SA Bees in the canyon with Mandau/Blau - 585.
Also did some limbus with it but it’s kinda unfair to judge with limbus, however I did a few WS near 3k! More testing later

Experience Points, Nyzul Weapons, and bears, oh my!
SE just updated their page with this, and boy oh boy does it look like September’s going to be a great update for us all So not only are they adding level synch, they’re also bumping up the EXP you get from defeating mobs that are Easy Prey or Decent Challenge which in FFXI, these mobs are judged as so from a party’s perspective rather than solo - which is kinda misleading when you examine them solo and they’re still “EP” yet curbstomp you, they’re giving them more exp woo!
Nyzul on the other hand is wows, they’re greatly increasing the chance you can get to get your weapon, it looks like they want everyone to get the weaponskill (WS without the Mythic Weapon gives no Aftermath bonus, however the WS alone might be awesome) and will be great as I’ve had a hard time convincing people to let me go on their runic discs and warp out for a chance at a weapon for me (despite me doing the same for them /rolleyes). So after the update, 2 weapons will be dropping from the boss, 1 of the job of the runic holder, and 1 random. However there’s a chance that the lvl100 weapons will drop off other monsters in the final stretch too! Which is also good.

If you’re out of the loop on BG forums, ElmerThePointy has made a blogsite called “JP Button” which is awesome, he’s translating things that we non jp want to see, and making it public so those of us white skinned demons can view it.
He’s done it well, adding his own “middle ground” commentary at the end of it, trying to explain the reasoning behind posts, as he is someone who understands both cultures very well and looks at it from an unbiased perspective.
What Elmer’s done in these two threads, has built more of a bridge between the countries than SE has done in 5 years. That is amazing and sad at the same time.

So I was updating this BLORG (as Diablokiller puts it!) and moving all my LJ posts over to here via the export/import features of LJ/Wordpress, and oh my god the memories!
You can click on the side to see I’ve been blogging since 2005 (yikes!) , but here’s a few snippets that made me laugh.
http://wafiks.com/blog/2005/08/dynamis-windurst-sucess/
That post is me about Manaburn’s Dynamis Windy win, and me pondering over my Claustrum Fund, yes you heard right, when I first started my relic, I wanted to do Claustrum since I was BLM only! And what BLM running a dynamis LS wouldn’t want to upgrade his Dynamis weapon hmmmm? That was my mindset back then.
http://wafiks.com/blog/2005/12/hmm-maybe-im-going-thf-next/
This post was me pondering on changing my relic and next job to level. Pretty crazy, if you read the post you’ll read about the stranger who came up and dumped gil/items on me for no reason, If it weren’t for him, maybe it would have remained a Claustrum after all :p
http://wafiks.com/blog/2006/01/dynamis-lord-is-pushed-down-a/
Manaburn’s 1st Dynamis Lord, Jinkies! Brings back memories of us being one of the only groups on Asura able to do this (at the time).

As you readers may know, I started a second character “Countwafik” for the purpose of having a bard or whm slave, as well as re-doing some things in this game, one of them being CoP missions!
This time around, I got the jolly idea of after each CS, point form write down the main things from each CS, so I can actually keep up with the story. Unfortunately on my first time round, the story was chopped up horribly, most of the cutscenes had a 3 month gap in them at minimum, which wasn’t very easy to keep up with, especially when they start referring to things at the beggining of the story. Maybe I was just too naiive and unfocused to pay attention back then, but this time around my ammo (of notepad!) is my savior.
The way I’ve set up my notepad so far is the chapter mission will be bolded (for example : 2-5 Ancient Vows) and then the rest of the text under it. After I’m done with a mission, I’ll type up the next mission under it, so it can be one big text file that I can read from top to bottom.
I plan on pasting it through this LJ, not the whole thing though in one clump, but in segments, I’ll post my first segments in the next update :p Then probably comment on them and such.
Going through CoP is great fun again because this time I’m doing it mostly with friends. I did Promyvion mea with a pickup and that’s about it. The only thing I wish from CoP is that one day SE turns it into an offline game, CoP is huge and amazingly epic, and would be a shame for an expansion like this to become lost in the void of “MMO stories lolz”. I too did bash on CoP’s story back in the day, saying if you want story you play an offline game rather than online, but looking back at it, most likely I was using the story as a scapegoat due to the lack of content that CoP didn’t have (and now look! wings has even less, lol).
Promyvions have been fun, fun to go through these again, ended up doing minotaur today and getting CS’s which puts me at 2-5, mammet fight which I am verily looking forward to.
Maybe one day when I know how to make websites properly (from scratch, not using a website builder) I’ll give a shot at building one for all my storylines that I’ve encountered in FFXI. I’m imagining something like a main menu up top, side menu with all the expansions, and when you click on the expansion, a sub menu goes beneath with the list of chapters/stories.
I’m doing it with CoP now, and am definitely going to do it with Zilart, Wings, and nation missions. Kerrigan’s story website is nice for in depth answers, as are other littered posts here and there, but sometimes I just want a nice summarized story so I can answer myself “Hmmm why did X do Y? According to my notes, it’s because Z ate Q’s lunch!”, and such !
Here’s a funny screenshot
CoP’s easy once you take shortcuts and tricks such as everyone anima locking promy bosses, pre-parking someone at minotaur hours before it’s time to do minotaur so he can allience draw in, e-sealing slow on bosses so you don’t have to worry about resists in your half ass gear (my taru wears full seers + monster signa, go me!) etc etc.
Tomorrow planning on doing a mammet run after salvage if people aren’t too tired. If they are then it can happen on another day. My biggest push this week is to get diablos killed , since bastok has Tavnazia this week and you need to finish 3-5 or it doesn’t let you OP / Use AH in tav which is what I mainly want. I hate going to whitegate for AH purposes when there’s a much better one to use in Tav, lag free as well.
