The Wonderful World of Lordwafik

If you’re out of the loop on BG forums, ElmerThePointy has made a blogsite called “JP Button” which is awesome, he’s translating things that we non jp want to see, and making it public so those of us white skinned demons can view it.

He’s done it well, adding his own “middle ground” commentary at the end of it, trying to explain the reasoning behind posts, as he is someone who understands both cultures very well and looks at it from an unbiased perspective.

What Elmer’s done in these two threads, has built more of a bridge between the countries than SE has done in 5 years. That is amazing and sad at the same time.

NA Questions for JP

He started off by us asking the Japanese questions. Ranging from serious questions, to silly questions. I’m happy that two of my questions got chosen to be part of the 10 :p The question about JP only servers, as well as the part about have they learned anything off the NA community since their introduction.

It was kind of dissapointing for us to learn that the majority of JP wanted to leave and go to a JP only server, but at the same time, you can’t blame them when you consider some of the actions and culture differences.

A big key difference between us and Japan, is we are used to a multicultural society, where every day you’ll meet people with different faces and different ethnicities, wheras in Japan, you have a majority of Japanese , and then a minority of foreigners. This alone is big enough for Xenophobia, they’re not being “racist” out of spite, they’re mostly afraid to be out of their comfort zone that they live in every single day.

He’s also flipped it around, and now given us return questions from the Japanese. I hope he adds my comments to it, the parts where I posted (on BG) about our culture differences, to help them understand why exactly is it that NA don’t mind mixing and mingling with anyone and everyone.
